Pain is the Guide (2020)

Art found its way back into my life to help deal with depression, anxiety, and coming to terms with being diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome in 2017.

Focusing on my self-care has been a major goal of mine the last few years and at times I had to face some very painful memories and feelings, but it was the only way to work towards being the person I wanted to be for so long.

Mental pain has been a very good teacher that I’ve tried to pay more attention to. I started to realize that all the negative thoughts I dealt with for so long and tried to beat were actually a part of me for one reason or another. Pain may have helped shape me and left it’s mark on me many times but it does not rule me, giving me reason to keep doing my best.

Choosing to embrace pain and translate it into my art has allowed me to grow as a artist and a human being living with mental sickness.
