Hurt is Forever (Nov. 2019)
“It’s terribly dangerous for an artist to fulfill other peoples’ expectations. They produce their worst work when they do that.” - David Bowie
When making my latest series, “Hurt is Forever” I found myself experimenting quite a bit more than usual and attempted to tap deeper into my creative energy. When I got out of the way that’s when the good things happened. I’d get so lost in a piece that the only thing I remember is making the last details.
This body of work is a reminder that my art is my own and I make what appeals to me. I will not let myself be influenced by those who feel I should be doing something different, especially since it’s become such a healthy outlet for me. If my art doesn’t appeal to certain people so be it.
